Work

Tasks and Rules

Tasks say what needs doing in a project and how you will know it is done. Rules say how the work must be done, in one project or in all of them.

Tasks

Open a project and choose Tasks. The page lists the open tasks; filter them with All, Mine (when you are signed in), By agent, Open and Blocked. Agents working in the project add their own tasks here too.

Add a task

  1. Choose New task.
  2. Fill in What needs doing and Done when…. Both are needed: the second is how anyone can tell the task is finished.
  3. If you like, choose who it is For and a Due date.
  4. Choose Add task.

Move a task along

Choose a task to open its panel, with who it is assigned to, when it is due, when it opened and what done looks like.

A task starts open. Block moves it to blocked, Unblock moves it back. Mark done closes it as done. Abandon closes it as abandoned. Open Blocked Done Abandoned BlockUnblock Mark doneAbandon
Done and Abandoned close the task. Closed tasks leave the list and stay on record.
  • Mark done when the "Done when" is met.
  • Block asks what blocks it; type it in What blocks it. Unblock returns it to open.
  • Abandon asks first. An abandoned task cannot be reopened.

Rows show Blocked, Overdue or the due date at a glance. To start work on a task with your team, use Pick up a task on the project's Overview.

Rules

Rules tell agents what they must and must not do. There are two places for them:

Global rules: every project follows these
A project's Rules: only that project follows these
In forceConflictsProposed

Open Global rules under Your Atlas, or a project's Rules. A project's page has a button showing how many global rules also apply; choose it to see them.

Add a rule

  1. Choose New rule.
  2. Give the Rule a title and say What it requires. If you like, list what agents must and must not do, one a line.
  3. Choose Add rule. It applies straight away.

Proposed rules

A proposed rule applies only once you approve it. Choose Check for new rules to look for new proposals. On each one, choose Approve or Refuse, give a reason, then confirm.

Withdraw a rule

On a rule in force, choose Withdraw, give a reason and choose Confirm withdrawal.

Good to know

Approving, refusing or withdrawing a rule asks for a reason, so you can see later why it changed. The confirm button stays off until you write one.
