The Files page
Open a project and choose Files.
- Views: All, Images, Documents, Code, Data, Media, Other and Folders.
- Find a file, also ⌘ P.
- Favourites: Recents, Remembered, Changed, then the project's folders.
- The inspector for the chosen file.
Browse and find
- Choose a view across the top to see one kind of file, or Folders to browse as you would in Finder.
- In Folders, switch between Icons, List and Columns (⌘ 1, 2, 3). Back and Forward are ⌘ [ and ⌘ ].
- Type in Find a file. Results are listed under Files found.
Choose how folders show first, and whether the chosen file is previewed, in Settings, Files.
Preview and inspect a file
Choose a file to see it in the inspector. In Folders, press Space or choose Preview to show or hide the preview. The inspector has three tabs:
- Preview shows the file. Show as switches between Rendered, Table, Formatted and Source where the file allows.
- Info has Copy path, and Add to assets for pictures, video, sound, PDFs and fonts.
- Memory shows what your Mind holds about the file, with Update the Mind now.
Ask opens Chat and Rooms with the file added to your message; type your question and send. Open opens it full size, and Close closes the inspector.
Edit a text file
- Open the file and choose Edit.
- Make your change. The status reads "Changed, not saved".
- Choose Save or press ⌘ S. Cancel asks before throwing your changes away.
If someone, or an agent, changed the file while you were editing, Atlas tells you and offers Discard mine and reload or Save mine over it. Leaving with unsaved changes asks whether to Keep editing.
While reading a file, Find (⌘ F) searches it; type : and a number to go to that line. Back to the files returns to the list.
Bring files into your Mind
Seeing a file in Files does not by itself put it in your Mind. To bring the project's files in, choose the Update the Mind button in the toolbar. Point at it to see how many files it covers and when it last ran. When it finishes it tells you how many files are new, changed or gone.
Once files are in your Mind, Recall can find them and agents can draw on them. See Recall and the Mind.
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The Mind has not read this folder yet. | Choose Update the Mind, then search again. |
| Too large to preview | The file is too big to show here. Open it from Finder; Copy path on the Info tab tells you where it is. |
| Kept private. | This file is not shown here. |
| No longer in the folder. | The file was moved or deleted on your Mac. |
